Barranc Fort

  • Location: it is the Puntal’s southern ravine, with an altitude of 792 meters above sea level. The vineyards are located at 400 meters above sea level in the Barranco de les Ortigues ravine and on the Romeral plateau.
  • Diversity of soils and landscape: Near these vineyards surrounded by arid Mediterranean forest can be seen: the Castell Vell gorge, the Barranc Fort, the Puntal, the Fondo natural park and the sea. In addition, several elements of the landscape make this vineyard a very special place. A source of fossils enriches this area.
  • Geological richness: Four different soils are present in the vineyard, three belonging to the Miocene: sands, white loams and red clay with gypsum crystals. And a soil belonging to the Jurassic of gravels near the ravine. Highly calcareous soils, with up to 27% active lime, enhance the quality of the grapes.
